In a bold political declaration, former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has predicted that 230m Nigerians to unseat Tinubu and the governors defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He made this statement during the unveiling of the Plateau State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Contact and Mobilization Office, where he described the ADC as the rising force the nation needs.

El-Rufai Says Nigerians Are Tired of Traditional Parties

According to a post published on X by @ADCngcoalition, while speaking at the event, El-Rufai said it had become obvious that Nigerians were exhausted by the leadership style of the country’s dominant political parties. According to him, the APC and PDP no longer inspire confidence among citizens, and this frustration is driving Nigerians to seek an alternative platform. The post.

He expressed confidence that the growing discontent will translate into electoral power, insisting that “230m Nigerians to unseat Tinubu” is not merely a slogan but the mood of a nation ready for change. He argued that continuous defections from one major party to another do not address the real issues affecting the country. “I know that everyone is tired of this APC and PDP government across the country.  Everyone is looking up to ADC to save Nigeria. Governors from PDP are defecting to APC but Nigerians are defecting to ADC. By God’s grace, 230m Nigerians will defeat 25 governors.” – Mallam Nasir El Rufai said.

Defecting Governors Won’t Stop the ADC Movement, He Says

El-Rufai criticised the trend of governors jumping from the PDP to the APC, suggesting that the defections were not based on principles but personal gains. He maintained that despite the movement of political elites, ordinary Nigerians are determined to shift their support to the ADC.

He reiterated that “230m Nigerians to unseat Tinubu” in the next electoral cycle remains achievable because the majority of citizens are eager to embrace a new political direction. According to him, the real power does not lie in governors switching parties but in the collective decision of Nigerians at the polls.

Youth and Women Will Drive the ADC’s Future

The former governor emphasised that the ADC is designed to prioritise the needs of young people and women, groups he believes are the most affected by poor leadership. He stated that between 2027 and 2031, the ADC plans to raise a new generation of political leaders who will rebuild confidence in public institutions and governance.

El-Rufai explained that empowering youth and women is central to the party’s strategy for national renewal. He maintained that these groups are ready to reclaim their space in Nigeria’s political future and will be the backbone of the movement determined to transform the nation.

ADC Will Promote Integrity and Responsible Leadership

The former Kaduna governor also stressed the importance of uniting behind credible candidates who can deliver meaningful progress. He said the ADC intends to promote policies that address real challenges affecting Nigerians, including economic hardship, insecurity, and weakened institutions.

He added that the party plans to introduce a culture of integrity, ethical leadership, and accountability in governance—values he insists are missing in the current political environment. According to him, this renewed commitment is what sets the ADC apart and positions it as a party capable of steering Nigeria in a better direction.

El-Rufai concluded by urging supporters to remain united in the mission to bring change, insisting that when the time comes, Nigerians will rise together to ensure a shift in leadership.
