A fresh wave of political debate has taken over social media following comments by media personality Ossai Movie Success, who openly criticized the idea of Peter Obi selecting Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate in the 2027 presidential election.
In a Facebook post that quickly went viral, Ossai expressed strong opposition to the rumored political alignment, arguing that Peter Obi does not measure up to Kwankwaso politically. His remarks have since sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians taking to social media platforms to either support or challenge his perspective.
Controversial Claims Stir Reactions
Ossai did not mince words in his criticism, stating:
“Peter Obi does not worth Kwankwaso being his running mate. Kwankwaso is bigger than Peter Obi politically. The North are not happy with the news of Kwankwaso lobbying to be Peter Obi running mate.”
According to him, such a move could significantly damage Kwankwaso’s political standing, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where he enjoys considerable influence, especially in Kano State. Ossai argued that accepting a vice-presidential position under Obi might reduce Kwankwaso’s value in the eyes of his supporters.
He further warned that the potential alliance could weaken Kwankwaso’s future political prospects, suggesting that it might even affect his chances ahead of the 2031 elections. Ossai added that the situation is different from the dynamics seen during the 2023 elections, emphasizing that political calculations must evolve with time.
Mixed Reactions from Nigerians
As expected, Ossai’s comments have drawn mixed reactions online. While some users agree with his assessment, believing that Kwankwaso should maintain his political independence, others have dismissed the claims as divisive and speculative.
Supporters of Peter Obi argue that political partnerships are often strategic and should not be reduced to personal comparisons of influence or popularity. On the other hand, Kwankwaso’s loyalists have expressed concerns about preserving his political legacy and regional support base.
The Bigger Political Picture
The discussion highlights the ongoing conversations around coalition-building ahead of the 2027 elections. As political figures begin to position themselves, alliances and partnerships are likely to remain a key topic of national discourse.
Whether or not such a ticket will materialize remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: Nigerians are already deeply engaged in shaping the narrative.
