In the early hours of the morning, residents of Guto village were jolted awake as bandits attempted a coordinated abduction. According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, distress calls were received immediately, prompting instant mobilization of the Bwari Division Surveillance Team and the IGP Special Intervention Squad (SIS).
Adeh explained in a statement released on the Command’s X platform @FCT_PoliceNG that the attackers opened fire instantly after sighting the police. The confrontation escalated quickly, forcing officers to respond with calculated and superior force.
Police Engage Criminals in Intense Gun Battle
The clash between the attackers and security personnel was fierce, with gunshots echoing across the village. Adeh confirmed that the officers from both units matched the bandits’ aggression, ensuring the situation did not escalate further.
During the exchange, two members of the invading gang were neutralised. Realizing the tide had turned in favour of the police, the remaining attackers fled toward the surrounding bush paths and mountainous areas. Tragic Loss of a Brave Police Officer

The FCT Police Command described the fallen officer as a courageous and dedicated personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice. His death underscores the dangers that officers face daily while confronting armed criminal groups.
CP Dantawaye Orders Reinforcement and Full Investigation
In response to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has deployed additional security personnel to Guto village and surrounding communities. The goal is to stabilize the area, prevent reprisals, and reassure residents of their safety.
Dantawaye also directed a thorough investigation aimed at tracking down the fleeing bandits. He emphasized that the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks across the FCT and will not relent until all perpetrators are brought to justice.
He further noted that residents should continue collaborating with security operatives by reporting strange movements, stressing that community partnership is essential for continued safety.
