A growing wave of insecurity has once again captured public attention after a Lady cries out online, revealing that her cousin was kidnapped by armed men while returning to school in Kogi State. The heartbreaking situation has triggered widespread concern, especially as it occurred on one of the state’s familiar travel routes, making many question the safety of students and everyday commuters. In sharing her story, the Lady cries out not only to create awareness but also to seek urgent help as her family struggles to handle the trauma and financial pressure brought by the incident.
Attack Along a Busy Commuter Route
According to the distressed relative, the young student was travelling along the well-known Obajana Road, a major route used by countless travellers moving within and outside Kogi State. The victim was inside an 18-seater commercial bus, hoping to return to school safely, when gunmen reportedly struck.
The lady, identified on X as @nana_hauwa, explained that the attack was swift and terrifying. She disclosed that everyone in the bus was forcefully taken away, leaving no passenger behind. Her revelation has further deepened the ongoing discussions around repeated armed incidents on central Nigerian roads, with many citizens calling for intensified security presence on vulnerable routes.
The case has added to the growing list of troubling incidents in Kogi, raising fears about the increasing risks students and workers face while travelling across the state.
Kidnappers Demand Huge Ransom
Following the abduction, the situation worsened when the kidnappers contacted the victim’s mother. According to @nana_hauwa, the abductors demanded a staggering N100 million as ransom—a heartbreaking amount for a family already struggling financially.
She added that the victim’s mother is a widow with limited means, making the ransom impossible for her to afford. For the grieving family, the pressure of negotiating with heavily armed criminals while dealing with fear and helplessness has been devastating.
Despite attempts to plead for a lower amount, the kidnappers allegedly refused to negotiate and ended the call abruptly, insisting that the family was not taking the matter seriously. This response pushed the family into deeper despair, prompting the Lady cries out publicly for support.
Public Appeal for Assistance
Feeling overwhelmed by the situation, the lady decided to bring the matter to public attention. She reached out online, pleading with Nigerians, kind-hearted individuals, and anyone touched by their story to assist in any way possible. She urged the public to donate if they can, share her post to raise awareness, or offer prayers for the safe return of her cousin.
In her words:
“Yesterday, along Obajana Road in Kogi State, an 18-seater bus heading to school was attacked, and everyone on board was kidnapped, including my husband’s cousin. The kidnappers have contacted his mother and are demanding ₦100 million for his release. We tried to negotiate with them, but they said we were not ready and ended the call. She is a widow and has absolutely no means to raise such an amount. We are devastated and racing against time. We appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians, friends, and anyone moved by this situation to support us in any way possible—financially, by sharing this post, or through prayers. No amount is too small. Your support could help bring him home alive.”
With the family’s fear intensifying by the day, the Lady cries out hoping that public awareness and collective support will contribute to a positive breakthrough.
