A fresh legal confrontation has emerged as Man Drags VeryDarkMan to Court for allegedly failing to give a clear and transparent breakdown of the funds he paid into the popular critic’s NGO account. The man behind the suit claims that he took legal action because he believes he was “lured” into sending the money and has been unable to get proper accountability from the organisation.

Onwuka Princewill Chimezie, a Nigerian who describes himself as a human rights advocate and supporter of good governance, has officially filed a suit against Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, at the Federal High Court in Abuja. According to the writ of summons he publicly shared, Chimezie says the critic has not provided a detailed explanation of how the funds donated to the NGO, the Martins Vincent Otse Initiative, were used.

Chimezie, who openly posted documents relating to the case, insists that the legal route became necessary after several attempts to get satisfactory feedback regarding the money he sent. He alleges that VeryDarkMan encouraged him to contribute to the NGO, only for the organisation to fail to provide the accountability he expected. This forms the basis of his claim that he was “lured” into making the donation.

He narrated that without financial or physical power to pressure the online critic; he had no option other than to seek justice in court. In his words: “Following VDM’s failure to make a proper account for the money I deposited in his NGO account, my team of lawyers have sued him before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. I have no guns and bombs to coerce VDM to account for the money he lured me to pay into his bank account, I only have the court of justice, being the last hope of the common man.”

The court documents, dated November 13 and shared through Facebook, show that Chimezie donated N50,000 to the NGO. He now wants the court to compel VeryDarkMan and his organisation to give a fully transparent breakdown of all funds received since the initiative began operations. Beyond the explanation of his own donation, he is also demanding an independent forensic audit of the NGO’s financial activities to determine if there have been any irregularities or diversion of funds.

Furthermore, Chimezie is asking the court to order a refund of any money found to be mismanaged or spent outside the stated objectives of the NGO. He insists that donors deserve clarity, and that public figures who run charitable organisations must be held to the highest standards of accountability.

Aside from the request for a detailed financial breakdown, the writ also includes monetary compensation. Chimezie seeks N1 million as general damages over the alleged misconduct and an additional N1.5 million to cover litigation expenses. These claims reflect his position that the incident caused him financial and emotional inconvenience, compelling him to spend money on legal representation.

With this case now officially before the court, it adds to the growing public discussions surrounding transparency among social critics and influencers who run donation-driven initiatives. For Chimezie, the matter appears to be more than just a dispute over N50,000; it is, according to him, part of a larger demand for fairness and accountability.

This development has also sparked reactions online, with many observers waiting to see how the judiciary will address the matter, especially as Man Drags VeryDarkMan to Court continues to trend in conversations about accountability, trust, and public donations.
