A Nigerian mother has shared a deeply emotional and frightening experience involving her toddler, recounting how a seemingly minor health concern turned into a shocking medical emergency. The story, which surfaced in a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), has since drawn widespread reactions from parents and social media users, many of whom expressed both relief and concern over the incident.
According to the woman, the ordeal began subtly about two weeks before the discovery. Her husband had initially complained about a strange, unpleasant smell coming from their baby’s nose. At first, she dismissed it as a common symptom of cough and catarrh, conditions that are quite frequent among toddlers. Acting on this assumption, the couple purchased medications to treat what they believed was a minor illness. However, despite their efforts, the unusual odor persisted.
As days went by, the situation worsened. The smell became more noticeable and frequent, raising concerns in the household. Her husband attempted to inspect the child’s nose and noticed what looked like catarrh. But when the mother took a closer look, she sensed something was off. According to her, it didn’t resemble ordinary mucus, prompting them to seek professional medical attention.
At the hospital, doctors conducted an examination and confirmed that there was indeed a foreign object lodged inside the toddler’s nose. To safely remove it, the medical team administered an injection to help the child sleep. What followed left the parents in utter shock—a large piece of nylon was carefully extracted from the baby’s nostril using a medical instrument.
The woman expressed disbelief at how such a sizable object could have found its way into her child’s nose without anyone noticing. She also revealed the doctor’s warning that if the nylon had not been removed promptly, a surgical procedure involving cutting the nose might have been necessary.
