— Nigerian Serving in U.S. Military Sparks Debate Online

A Nigerian man currently serving in the United States military has stirred widespread reactions on social media after sharing his blunt opinion about the state of security and governance in Nigeria. In a viral video circulating on TikTok, the young man expressed deep concern over what he described as the deteriorating condition of the country, urging fellow Nigerians to consider relocating abroad if they have the opportunity.

Speaking in a mix of Pidgin and English, he addressed critics who often accuse Nigerians in the diaspora of speaking negatively about their home country simply because they now live abroad. According to him, his comments are not driven by pride or arrogance, but by genuine worry about the safety and future of those still living in Nigeria.

In his words: “Tiktok how Una be I greet una oh, you see when I talk b@d about Nigeria Una go say na because you manage travel outside Nigeria… Nigeria no be country again… if you have the means to travel outside Nigeria do it, no be only because of money but because of security… Nigeria is crying, Nigeria is bl33ding.”

Growing Concerns Over Security

The soldier emphasized that while no country is entirely free from crime or insecurity, he believes Nigeria’s situation has become particularly alarming. He urged young people, parents, and families to prioritize their safety and future by seeking better opportunities in more stable environments if possible.

His remarks reflect a growing sentiment among some Nigerians, especially youths, who feel frustrated by economic hardship, insecurity, and uncertainty about the nation’s direction. In recent years, conversations about migration—popularly referred to as “japa”—have gained momentum, with many citizens exploring options to relocate abroad.

Criticism of Leadership and Public Figures

In addition to his concerns about security, the young man also criticized Nigeria’s leadership, expressing little confidence in the ability of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to turn things around. His statement has further fueled political debates online, with some agreeing with his stance while others strongly disagree.

He also referenced controversial social media personality Blessing CEO, criticizing a past incident involving false claims about illness. According to him, such situations highlight deeper societal issues, including misinformation and misplaced priorities among the public.

Mixed Reactions Online

As expected, the video has generated mixed reactions. While some Nigerians supported his perspective, sharing similar frustrations, others argued that leaving the country is not always a viable solution and that change must come from within.

Regardless of differing opinions, the viral clip has once again brought attention to ongoing conversations about safety, governance, and the future of Nigeria. It underscores the emotional connection many Nigerians, both at home and abroad, still have with the country—even when expressing criticism.
