A young Nigerian woman has stirred reactions online after criticizing women who she believes do not show enough respect to their husbands. The woman, whose video has gone viral on social media, argued that wives who challenge their husbands while they are speaking are not properly trained and may not fully understand the principles of marriage.
In the trending clip, the woman spoke passionately about what she described as the proper conduct of wives in marriage. According to her, many women today lack the upbringing and discipline required to maintain respect within their homes. She emphasized that wives should remain calm and respectful whenever their husbands are speaking and should avoid actions that could be interpreted as disrespectful.
The woman further claimed that some married women have abandoned the values they were taught while growing up, leading to behavior that she believes is damaging to their marriages. She insisted that women who openly challenge their husbands in conversations or arguments need to be corrected and reminded of what she described as the ethics of marriage.
Speaking in the video, she said:
“If your husband dey talk and you dey follow am dey talk they challenge
1. be say them no train you well, them no train you for your papa house well 2. Be say you no get respect, you don’t have any atom of respect in you
3. They need to send you back to your father’s house for you to learn ethnics of marriage, because I don’t think you understand it
Some of you even go to the extent of working out of your husband when your husband is talking, you don’t have respect, your not even qualified to be called a married woman.”
The young woman went on to list several things she believes women should not do while their husbands are talking or whenever they are in their husbands’ presence. According to her, interrupting a husband, arguing excessively during discussions, or walking away while he is speaking are signs of disrespect and poor character.
The video has since generated mixed reactions among social media users. While some viewers agreed with her position and argued that respect remains a vital ingredient in every successful marriage, others disagreed, maintaining that marriage should be built on mutual respect and understanding between both partners.
Many commenters pointed out that healthy relationships require effective communication from both spouses rather than complete silence from one side. Others, however, supported the woman’s remarks, saying traditional family values should still be upheld in modern marriages.
