Popular Catholic priest and founder of the Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has stirred fresh reactions across social media after claiming that the rising insecurity in Nigeria is part of a calculated effort by certain individuals to undermine and possibly remove President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from office. The outspoken cleric made the remarks during a church sermon where he openly expressed his support for President Tinubu’s administration. According to Mbaka, the recent wave of kidnappings and insecurity should not automatically be blamed on the President, as similar situations occurred during previous administrations.
While addressing his congregation, Mbaka drew a comparison between the current situation and what happened during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. He suggested that insecurity was allegedly used as a political tool against Jonathan and warned Nigerians against being manipulated by those he believes are pursuing a similar agenda today.
In his words:
“If they want to overthrow Tinubu it is not by k!dn@pp!ng our children so that the whole Nigerian will be angry against the president, that was what they did against Jonathan, let Nigerian’s not be deceived.”
Mbaka’s Comments Generate Mixed Reactions
The statement quickly gained attention online, with many Nigerians expressing differing opinions on the priest’s position.
Some social media users disagreed strongly with Mbaka’s comments, arguing that the government should focus on solving the security challenges rather than attributing them to political conspiracies.
One X user, @HE_LOVE_MOVIES, wrote:
“If the kidnap was to remove him from power, why can’t him and his government rescue the children to prove that he’s able for the office. The fact that they are not doing anything about it is the Nigerian people anger. He has the power and resources.”
Another user, @connect_em15533, questioned Mbaka’s consistency, referencing some of his previous political statements.
The user commented:
“The same Jonathan he called bad luck. And said buhari was the Messiah. Make me president and I will ban religion in this country, if you take a child to the church you will serve jail term. If you are not up to 18 you have no business in any religious gathering.”
Similarly, @Amaoosa_01 criticized the cleric’s position, arguing that insecurity has remained a long-standing issue in Nigeria regardless of the government in power.
The user stated:
“This clown… who did it to Jonathan? The same people in office. Kidnapping, terrorism and banditry over the years have been happening over Nigeria. Even in the east.. but this clown can now speak.. fool.”
Growing Debate Over Nigeria’s Security Challenges
Mbaka’s comments have once again brought attention to the ongoing debate surrounding insecurity in Nigeria. While some supporters agree with his position that criminal activities should not be politicized, others maintain that every administration must be held accountable for protecting citizens and addressing security threats effectively.
